# 🧌 Scambaiting 🧌 _Don't feed the ~~trolls~~ scammers!_ While some interactions with suspected scammers is useful, we don't gain anything from insulting, abusing, or harassing a suspected or confirmed scam account user. It is ok to chat with questionable users to determine if they are scamming people, or to lead them on to attempt to scam you in order to get evidence. Wasting their time in benign ways is also fine. > [!fail] But it is not ok to be racist or abusive to anyone. Also be aware that you chat to a scammer or questionable user _**at your own risk**_. If you DMed them first, they can report you and potentially limit your account. We're here to reduce the harmful effects that scammers have on our community, and being aggressive and insulting towards suspected scammers risks undermining that as well as risking your own account being reported and limits being placed upon it. Gather evidence, and move on. There is still another human at the other end of the keyboard, whose circumstances you know nothing about.
